National Preparedness Month

Stay informed and register to Miami-Dade Alerts


(MIAMI, September 16, 2013) – September is National Preparedness Month (NPM). The Miami-Dade Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is participating in (NPM) to help increase readiness throughout the U.S. The event, now in its ninth year, is a nationwide, month-long effort hosted by the Ready Campaign and Citizen Corps, encouraging households, businesses and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies.

Preparation can be as simple as staying informed about emergencies that could occur in your community.

One of the best ways to stay informed is by registering with Miami-Dade Alerts! Residents of Miami-Dade County who enroll in this alerting system can receive SMS (text) messages and/or emails providing emergency and public safety information such as weather advisories including tornado and tropical storm/hurricane warnings.
